I am so glad we finally got closure on Aisha, I think the quote I have extracted from her strikes upon something quite deep. It's very easy to see striking first as a call to violence when echoed from Kreeses point of view but when it's coming from Johnny as a philosophy for life it can be applied to resolve problems before they occur. Bullying is best stopped when it's in its developmental fazes. Aisha bridged the gap between offence and defence, yin and yang, the balance between Miyagi and Cobra Kai that underlined season 4.

Tory expressed a desire to be first at something for once in her life and in order to do that she know she cannot cheat.

Everyone has to play some kind of a game in life and when we break the rules there are penalties and even legal penalties. Breaking the rules how Tory got kicked out of school in the first place, the problem with Kreese's strike first strike hard no mercy is that it's not a practical way to navigate life. 

At the end of season 4, Tory learns she did not win fairly when she had previously stated and believed she did not need to cheat. I think this will be key to her development, having won unfairly she is beginning to get that it's how you win that counts.

RWBY Volume 8 Chapter 1 Review

The very first scene is definitely Cinder's backstory foreshadowing, the hole scrubbing the floor thing fits in line with the whole Cinderella story so I wonder how they will switch it up. This gives us a chance to understand the origins of Cinder's evils and hopefully make her less generic. I do actually think that because she is quite literally on her knees scrubbing not so happily ever after that she was originally powerless to some form of slave master and that her lust for power is a pretty generic motivation. She may have gone from one serving one master or masters who enjoyed keeping her powerless to another master who has chosen her as a vessel for her power but paradoxically she is still the same person which I think the transition from Cinder scrubbing the floor to scratching the chair is trying to illustrate. We don't get to see her Cinder's expression when she is scrubbing the floor no hope in her eyes no defiance just servitude and no clarity on the master. Is she at such a low point she scrubs floors like that when no one is watching? She has to be in a place where Salem could influence her and why did Salem choose her of all people? Maybe as Salem was once a captive before being rescued by Ozmar she saw some part of herself in Cinder.

Restarting The tension 

The tension that immediately followed the young Cinder's floor scrubbing made me sure of something, Season/Volume 7 should have been longer. I felt like they had to make the opening tense enough to get us right back to where we were at the end of last season, they almost had to overcompensate for the tension that had dissipated by the gap between seasons, I mean Salem was straight up reminding us who the F she is so we the viewer is reminded how f'd we left off.

The only joke of the episode Blake's "We're never going to sleep again, I just know it" didn't lighten the episode or relieve tension and I think that was the point. The joke basically said hey we are not going to get as depressing as a couple of fo volumes/seasons ago all that personal progress the group made in perseverance through adversity has not gone away but will still to f'd to laugh about it. 

OZ

Oscar was expecting to get absolutely walloped by Nora and I feel like he is the trojan horse as far as character development. His decision not to tell the group about Ozpin's return or the truth of how he got down in the slumps was very Ozpin. The quote he gave" We can work separately and still be united sounded wise beyond his years, the type of thing Ozpin would say Ironwood noted Oscar saying things that sounded like Ozpin last season. I think Oscar's more subtle words and actions are him becoming more and more like Ozpin until he is Ozpin, this is how it happens this is how the previous Ozmar's and Ozpins became Ozpins. It's not that Oscar lied it's that he neglected to tell the truth. 

Who's Side Is Time On

Yang stepping on a watch was and then seeing the suitcase was symbolic of the times. The watch owner was in such a hurry they didn't have time to take their watch, the irony, and the pictures of the young people the type of people who should have the most time. The whole scene really tried to sell to the whole imminent danger thing the rest of their lives may not be that long. Yang's attitude is basically to save the people we can save now. Rwby's attitude is what about after, you can't say either is entirely wrong considering who they are up against. Ren and Nora, Yang and Ruby are characters that have been together the longest so for them to split symbolizes the change of times in my opinion and I think it's an underlying theme.

Ironwood

This episode did a fantastic job of creating tension and then transitioning, and I think general Ironwoods was the most unexpected at least to me. Before he even gets off the phone you can feel how powerless he feels "If she makes it through our defenses everything follows will be on your hands" are the words of a man who feels powerless at present. Blaming someone else for your fear of the future is the sign of a man who is not taking responsibility for the present actions, he thinks everything he is doing is not evil it is out of necessity.

Ironwood looking at his mechanical hand gave me Darth Vader vibes. The way he looks at his hand the part of him that is not human before making inhumane decisions is very ironic he is trying to save humanity by discarding his own.

I don't think there could be more foreshadowing of Winter abandoning Ironwood than his "Thank you winter I don't know what I would do without you" line.

Ironwood straight up killing in cold blood has Winter and Harriet questioning how disposable everyone is to him. The dynamic between ironwood killing and Clover's death really shows Ironwood's duality at least that's how I saw it. On one hand, it can be seen as he does not care about life for him to kill so easily when the others are mourning clover. On the other hand, Ironwood may be thinking that the best way to prevent more people from ending up like Clover is to do what he did. Other than Winter Clover was probably his most trusted person, that's gotta take a toll when you can't trust anyone it's easy to feel like you know best, after all, you have to.

Salem's target is clearly Ozpin which means she does not know a question has been asked by Ruby otherwise any of the group could do, the real mystery is is what her question for the lamp is?

How Will Superboy Get All His Powers In Young Justice?

Firstly a quick reminder let's talk about why Superboy/Conner does not have his full Kryptonian powers. Superboy is a clone of Superman however he is not the first, the first Superman clone created by project Cadmus in young justice is called match because Lex Luthor the man responsible for project Cadmus wanted Superman to meet his match, however, Kryptonian DNA is too hard to replicate and the imperfect sequence made Match uncontrollable. Superboy Cadmus's second attempt at a Superman clone is not all Superman, the gaps in his Kryptonian DNA were filled in by human DNA, Lex Luthor's human DNA.
Superboy did, in fact, have access to all his powers after using shields he received from Lex Luthor, these shields work by suppressing Superboy's human DNA for one hour however the shielded affected Superboy emotional state for the worst.

How could Superbot get All His Powers?
The fact is we do not know if he will get his powers so this is simply theory but maybe worth some thought.
In season 3 Bumblebee when repairs her daughter's heart and alters her DNA we get to hear a little bit about her research and its possibilities. She is able to introduce new genetic material into a gnome and successfully integrated new genes into her sample DNA.
Perhaps this could be applied to Conner who's to say with Superman and maybe the fortress of solitudes help that it would not be possible to replicate Kryptonian DNA making Conner a full Kryptonian or maybe introducing new genes could give Conner slightly different powers to Superman like other versions of Superboy.

RWBY Volume 7 Episode 1 Critique The Greatest Kingdom
The very first scene of season 7 the screen descending down passing the moon before the ships was a really nice touch and built well upon last season revelation about how the moon was shattered. The moon is a subtle reminder of the future threat of the god's judgment upon return and the ships are the reality of the imminent problem they are faced with.

The Rebels Writing Is On the Wall
Yang passes som graffiti that says show your teeth and this a potential clue for the whole of season 7. Graffiti is a sign of defiance whoever put it there was an individual or individuals defiant of the current regime showing your teeth is another way of saying to smile for the camera and in fact after passing the image. Yang is in fact snapped by the robot. Perhaps in season 7 of RWBY, we will run into the types of individuals or individuals who responsible for the Graffiti and they will help the team in some way. I think Yang being snapped on Camera will definitely come back to haunt the team in the credits we see one of Salem's henchmen, Arthur Watts accessing information so, in all likelihood, he'll learn exactly where they are.

From what little we know about Arthur we know he is a tech-head which sets up a potentially interesting technological battle between him and Pietro.






Clearly, the people are not happy with the regime and Ironwood and the face in the image above kept popping up in episode 1 attached to words like protect, more likely than not he is a character that stands in opposition to Ironwood politically and is gaining support from people at the lower end of Atlas more likely than not he comes from there.

Pietro's May Have More Business Than Usual
Most business is repeat business and Pietro is proof of that and when you can't remember customers like maria you must have a lot of business or perhaps you have had a lot of business recently. I don't know if the image is clear enough to you to read but is says welcome back under Pietro's face.
Yang's not the only one with a  robotic limb Pietro is responsible for before they go inside his shop we see another customer. Perhaps recent events have led to increased demand in his services maybe more people are getting injured or more specifically more people at the lower end of Atlas society, perhaps it's related to the workers we saw this episode.
Pietro is more likely than not going to give Blake a new weapon and Yang at least an arm repair we learned he is the one responsible for Yang's arm in the first place.

Why I don't Actually Feel For Penny
Penny's revival didn't undo the damage of beacon for me, I mean it takes away from the finality of her death. Penny was well I guess is like a real person even though she's a robot but part of what makes us human is death so when Penny returned it took away my empathy for her and made me see her a more of a fixable living robot than a person. Being reminded of Beacon made me think of the loss of Yang's arm and Pyrrha's life and because the things they lost are permanent I value them far more than potential losses for Penny.

The Need For A Time Skip
The first episode of season 7 picks off immediately where the last season ended which leaves no room for unsupervised character development during a time skip and it's not easy to develop characters individually when they are together all the time. Based on the Ending with the character being shown with new outfits and hairstyles this season will take place over a longer period of time than the previous giving time for individual development and that the maybe a chance to try the methods of training that made the Aceops so efficient.

Character Development and Potential Development
The fight between the team and the Grimm was really well balanced it gave everybody a chance to shine and with individual moments and team Combos. Oscar showed some incredible improvement until he let his guard down highlighting his inexperience, he has the skills but not yet the wisdom.
With every Oscar development, we are getting closer and closer to discovering what his semblance is, I don't think we'll get it this season but we are getting closer and look how long the took for the Jaune reveal.

Jaune becomes more and more useful every season I remember when he was in the back giving orders when the best he could do was throw one melon in a food fight and stay at the back giving orders and now he's able to fight on the front line slaying Grimm.
Ruby split into three roses in the fight I don't think I've ever seen her do that and the ending had yang's semblance looking better than it has in a while maybe it's animation or maybe potential Semblance evolution. I remember when semblances were explained in an earlier season and it was stated as something like Semblances may influence personality or perhaps personality semblances so a bit of a chicken and egg scenario. Perhaps yangs maturity will mature her semblance.

Final Critique
I see this as being the longest season of RWBY just based on the development potential and the time I believe would be required for the characters to develop in the necessary ways.
To wrap up this critique up Qrows"I was expecting things to go a lot rough" is right up there with it couldn't get any worse and I think we've hit rock bottom as for setting up things to take a turn for the worse, very cliche but probably letting us know what to this won;t be an easy ride.

Young Justice Season 3 Deaths

Through the last couple of episodes, Nightwing has compared superboy to big blue, superman I presume and this strikes up an interesting question, do they intend on killing superman off.


From Superboys introduction in season 1 him taking over as superman has been suggested and we even got a scenario like that in the episode where everyone is stuck inside a mental training exercise.
In counseling with Black Canary Superboy admitted that he liked being Superman even though all his friends were dead, he was quite literally made for the role.

Superman Season 3 Death Flags


Asked  To Be Conner's Best Man
A major death flag in my opinion is asking superman to be his best man by setting up an engagement like that it leaves space for his absence through a connection to a series regular like superboy if he were to leave an empty chair and Conner and M'gann's wedding we'd feel the sorrow through Conner because most of Young Justice does not give him a lot of screen time we can only feel the loss through Conner.

Superman Has A Son In This Universe 
The Son, named Jonathan Kent I presume is a good indicator why have Superman and two Superboy's, I don't know if there is a DC universe in which this scenario exists but I do no killing of Superman would allow Conner to be Superman and Jonathan to be Superboy.


Superman Makes Scripts Hard

Young Justice is just that young justice and order to allow Sidekicks sorry I mean proteges to have any shine you constantly have to have their older counterparts preoccupied with problems that don't allow them to deal with the main problems presented by the script. With certain incarnations of Superman, this is a more extreme problem than most especially when you have a plot that sometimes takes part in Metropolis and has villains like Lex Luthor and Darkseid that Superman would typically be expected to deal with.

You constantly have to ask yourself why doesn't superman deal with this and one of the ways to deal with this issue is one make superman less OP, the Young Justice superman is not an incarnation that could spend thousands of years in the sun he has been shown to need oxygen the Young Justice Superman can't breathe in space he's not the superman who can hear Jimmy's signal in the vacuum of space and traverse across the universe in time to respond.
Another way is to write Superman out of plots or as aforementioned into the plot in a way that does not allow him to solve the problem at the expense of the main cast, look at the Supergirl series they pretty much use all of Superman's main villains and write him out of the plot so they can have a show.

The third way I'm going to mention to deal with the script problems Superman brings to the table is to simply kill him off. I suspect there is not enough time in Young Justice season 3 to give us a Darkseid fight but we know it's coming and for this to work as Young Justice it may be easier if superman was killed off.
