1 Big Reason Solo Leveling Season 2 Episode 1 Not As Good As The Manhwa

2 reasons The Manwha is Better 1 Redeemed And 1 Left Wanting

Episode 1 of the second season has covered chapters 46 to chapter 51 of the manhwa for anyone who wants a refresh in some ways the manhwa is better and in other ways, the anime has surpassed the manhwa once again. I already posted content on why the anime is better so I will not add a link to that page if you are interested.

3 Ways The Anime Surpassed The Manhwa

This post is about the two things I think the manhwa did better, the first point I think the anime mostly makes up for in the second episode of the season the second point in my opinion is more crucial to understanding Jinwoo's motivations for the future there are minor spoilers for anime only viewers.

S rank Hunter Speed

One of those removals was the car ride with Hwang Dongsoo. Hwang Dongsoo Notes that at the pace of nearly 100 hundred miles an hour that they were going it would have been faster for him to run there himself. The fact that an S rank hunter can run more than 100 miles an hour gives context to why the hunters are banned from competitive athletics and how their battles are. For example, although they are all classed as S ranks mage would have no chance against a combatant type because the combatant type could kill them before they could cast anything.

The conversation between Choi Jong-In and the Hunter Association chairman effectively used the time that could have gone into the car ride which I think was a worthy replacement.

Episode 2 showed us just how fast a Sung Jinwoo is in real time so we see how S ranks can move when compared to other hunters and in battle. This car ride was redeemed in episode 2 of Solo Leveling's second season in my opinion.

Crucial Information About Sung Jinwoos Motivations

They removed the bank scene where Sung Jinwoo set up a bank account. I think this was crucial information. Sung Jinwoo became a hunter to provide for his sister his motivation to get stronger is because he could not do that very well as an E rank hunter. The bank teller assumes he is a high rank hunter in the Manhwa because she knows they can make significant money. Sung Jinwoo had a little over 1.4 billion won all earned from Solo C rank gate clearing with Yoo Jinho. To give some dollar figures in today's market that would be about $947.916.8 Sung Jinwoo is almost a millionaire.

His only motivation to take risks is saving his mother from her illness. He nearly died several times going into dungeons as an E rank barely scraping by, he nearly died trying to get stronger so he could get over the ridicule of his weakness and provide for himself and his sister. And now after all of that once he gets his mum back, has more than enough money is recognized as an S rank and finally has his family as close to being together as he believed possible he is supposed to risk all of that on an S rank mission that has already claimed an S ranks life.

I think it was a big mistake to get rid of that scene it helps us understand why he is not so quick to join the Jeju island raid after saving his mother and being set for life financially. I believe his words were he wanted to be strong enough to lift his mum's burdens. He has years' worth of money at this point and can make more than a living with gates that pose a minimum threat to his life.

Anyway, do you think the cut content should have been kept or are there any other ways you think the Manhwa I better?

Solo Leveling Season 2 Episode 1 Anime Vs Manga Chapters

Solo Leveling Season 2 Episode 1 Anime Vs Manga Chapters

Episode 1 of the second season has covered chapters 46 to chapter 51 of the manhwa for anyone who wants a refresh in some ways the manga is better and in other ways, the anime has surpassed the manhwa once again.

Here I Will cover the some key differences and also give my two cents on which differences that make the anime better. I will later cover the differences that I Think have made season 2 episode 1 of the anime worse than the manga chapters in upcoming content. To be short it's Mainly missing content so. If you want to be alerted when I release that or to give your thoughts on this content leave a comment.

Sung Jinwoo is More Protective Of Han Song-Yi In The Anime

When he first realised it was a red gate Sung tried to get back through it. He did the same in the anime with one addition he grabbed Han Song-Yi's hand first, she was a top priority, and he was trying to get her out quickly.

In the manhwa, although Sungjinwoo did catch the ice arrow before it could hit Han Song-Yi it was slightly different. In the anime, he pulled her closer to his chest which I think more strongly conveys how much he sees her like a sister and how protective Sung is. It also seems more damsel in distress so Han Song-Yi's crush makes more sense.

Immediately after catching the arrow, Sung makes an angry noise and we see his breath due to the cold. There could be two reasons for this. First, he is angry because two months ago he was an E rank and that arrow would have been aimed at him and have killed him. The second reason is because this is the type of life he is protecting his sister from. In the Manwha his look is more angry but it's anger about the fact that he would have been the target as the weakest hunter.

Oh year is more of a and I took that personally and it's on now moment. I prefer the anime interpretation because it's more protective than vindictive.

The Fight Scenes Felt Like A Movie

I loved how the shadows dispersed when struck, the blood splattering on the shadow army the spectacle was epic.

The fights between Igris and the alpha snow bear later known as Tank were much better in the anime in my opinion. With the music and added details to character movement I honestly felt like I was watching an animated movie, not an episode. I know we did get a recap movie that had clips so perhaps that played a part but I think season 2 will keep it up.

Builds Upon Already Added Content

Last season we got added content from an earlier attempt to clear Jeju Island with hunter Choi Jong-In playing a starring role. So him personally investigating the ants and now reporting the flying ants is added content that looks like it could build towards more of a payoff. Perhaps another flashback of when they attempted the Jeju Island raid. We are far more invested in how he feels about failing the raid the third Jeju island raid. Definitely pays dividends to see what goes on behind the scenes and makes me feel the significance of characters other than Jinwoo more in the anime than in the manhwa.

Are there any particular details you think the anime did better than the Manwha in episode 1 of Solo Leveling's second season?
